Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Morning Dew stuff (patch in DP28 version, switched 3rd & 4th verses, trivia questions)

In a recent thread (http://www.archive.org/post/414535/gd-trivia), wisconsindead pointed out that the 2-28-73 Morning Dew on DP28 actually has a bit of the first verse patched from the 6-29-73 version from the Universal Amphitheatre:

I've just listened to it, and damned if wd isn't right about that! The patch is from 0:46-1:19 on disc 4 track 5 of DP28. There's a clear decrease in hiss in that passage, and there are a couple of unusual licks and bits of vocal timing that are recognizably the same as the 6-29 version. So serious props to wisconsindead for recognizing not only the patching (I can't count the number of times I've listened to that track on a pretty good stereo and I'd never noticed it) but also which show those few seconds came from. I say props, but bluedevil would likely offer sympathy--no matter.

Speaking of that version, it has maybe my favorite MD guitar solo in the break after the first four verses--well worth listening to again if you have the release.

Also, I asked a few weeks ago about versions of Morning Dew in which Jerry switches the 3rd and 4th verses, singing "young man" before "all the people". Turns out this is one of those versions. So my first MD trivia question: can you name another commercial release with a Morning Dew with switched 3rd and 4th verses? I found that other one a week or so back.

And my second MD trivia question (repeated from wd's earlier thread): what commercial release has a Morning Dew whose first half comes from the SBD cassette and second half comes from the SBD reel of the show?
